Udaipur, the headquarter of Aajeevika Bureau, is the largest city in South Rajasthan and its expansion is fuelling an increasing demand for labour. Udaipur draws large numbers of migrants and commuters from villages within the district. The presence of these migrants is in very wide economic spectrum of the city. Some of the major trades migrants work in include: hotel/restaurant, construction, head-loading, vending, hotel and restaurant work.
Jandaksha Trust is Aajeevika Bureau’s operational partner in Udaipur city and it operates the local centre near the Aajeevika’s head office. Registration, photo ID, training, placement counselling and collectivisation of labour is undertaken by the centre team that has now build strong contacts in a number of labour chowkhtis and residential areas.
